Guwahati: Amid the circumstances of an increasing number of youths joining ULFA(I) from different parts of the State, Assam Police has arrested one youth for his alleged involvement with the banned United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent ULFA(I) from Dibrugarh district on Saturday.
The youth has been identified as Bhargav Gogoi who is a resident of Bamunbari village of the district.
According to reports, he was apprehended in a joint operation by Tingkhong Police and the CRPF 171 Battalion’s QRT.
Gogoi has been reportedly arrested from his residence.
According to police officials, Gogoi allegedly kept in touch with ULFA-I chief Abhijit Gogoi alias Aiseng Axom.
He is suspected of being involved in the recruitment of new cadres for the outlawed organisation.
Meanwhile, Gogoi is currently being held in police custody for two days for further investigation.
It may be mentioned that Dibrugarh police station has filed case no 220/22 under sections 371 IPC r/w section 10/13 UA(P) Act.
