Assam: Youth Arrested in Hailakandi for Dangerous Railway Stunt Video

Hailakandi, Assam: A 27-year-old youth, Papul Alom Barbhuiya, has been apprehended by the Assam police in Hailakandi district following the circulation of a disturbing video on social media. The footage depicted Barbhuiya lying between railway tracks as a train passed overhead at Lala railway station.

The arrest was made by the Lala police on Tuesday, according to a police official. The 31-second video, which was uploaded by Barbhuiya on Facebook earlier in the week, seemingly showed the individual positioned dangerously between the rails while filming an approaching train.

While the authenticity of the video could not be independently confirmed by the news agency PTI, the content sparked immediate concern and prompted police action. Barbhuiya, who identifies himself as a video game programmer on his social media profile and is reportedly a resident of Bengaluru, further complicated the matter by posting a subsequent video.

In his second post, uploaded the day after the initial video, Barbhuiya claimed that the first clip was manipulated. He stated that the segment showing the train passing over him was downloaded from the internet and explicitly warned others against attempting such hazardous stunts.

Following his arrest, Barbhuiya was presented before a court. The police officer confirmed that he has since been granted bail. Authorities have indicated that a thorough investigation into the incident is currently underway.
