Assam Youth Shot Dead in Arunachal Pradesh’s Roing, Cross-Border Tensions Rise

Guwahati: In a tragic incident that has stirred shock and concern across state lines, a youth from Assam was shot dead in Roing, located in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Dibang Valley district. The deceased has been identified as Shankar Pegu, son of Kamaleswar Pegu, a resident of Borajuli village, 1 No. Bogisuti under Jinjia Police Station in Biswanath district, Assam.

According to initial reports, Shankar Pegu was allegedly gunned down with a pistol by an individual identified as Tadar Bhai, a resident of Sagalee in Papumpare district, Arunachal Pradesh. The exact circumstances and motive behind the fatal shooting remain unclear, prompting a full-scale investigation by authorities.

Police from both Assam and Arunachal Pradesh are said to be in close coordination to determine the events that led to the killing. While officials have not ruled out personal enmity or other causes, they are yet to publicly confirm any concrete motive.

The incident has triggered widespread concern along the inter-state border, with local communities in Biswanath and Roing demanding justice and swift action against the accused.
