Assam Youth’s Accident Highlights Risks of Border Region Commute

Guwahati: In a heartbreaking incident, the body of 28-year-old Sambhu Tapanna, a youth from Assam, was recovered on Monday by police near Parshuram Kund in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit district.

Tapanna, a resident of Udaipur Pasha village in Tinsukia district, had been missing since October 28.

Tapanna, who had worked for 12 years with the 1444 GREF Construction company under the Border Roads Organization (BRO), was stationed in Walong, Anjaw district, contributing to infrastructure projects along the India-China border.

Tragically, his journey home for the Puja festival was cut short when he reportedly lost control of his bike near Parshuram Kund, plunging nearly 400 feet down a steep hillside.

Following an extensive recovery operation, police retrieved his body, marking a sorrowful end for the dedicated worker. The incident underscores the dangerous conditions in the mountainous border areas, where commuting risks are a stark reality for residents and workers alike.
