Assamese Actor Jayanta Das Allegedly Abused by Police Personal’s Driver in Guwahati
Guwahati: Bharaghar Actor Jayanta Das allegedly received verbal abuse from the police patrol car’s driver in Guwahati of Assam after urging one of the uniformed personnel to refrain from chewing tobacco while on duty.
The actor detailed the situation in a video that was released on Facebook.
In the video he said he was allegedly abused verbally and misbehaved by driver of a police patrolling party vehicle in Uzan Bazar area when he suggested police personal that it was inappropriate for him to be chewing tobacco on-duty.
The driver was angered by the suggestion and verbally abused him.
He said that the cops supported his assertion, nevertheless.
Jayanta asked Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to pursue justice and uphold the reputation of the Guwahati Police.
Meanwhile, the vehicle was traced and the driver was taken into custody.
According to the actor, Citizens of Assam want their police to be regarded by all residents of the state in the same manner that Mumbai or Delhi police are. The objective of our Chief Minister is that all of our residents will respect the Assam Police. As a watchful citizen of the state, I advised the police personnel to refrain from chewing tobacco while on duty in order to fulfil that aim.
He continued, “The abuse has made me feel sad and ashamed.”
