Assamese Actress Amrita Gogoi Alleges Attempted Break-in at Nagaon Hotel
Nagaon, Assam: Renowned Assamese actress Amrita Gogoi has accused Hotel Sunjukti in Nagaon of a serious security lapse after a terrifying ordeal during her recent stay.
The incident, which came to light through a Facebook Live session, has sparked widespread public outrage.
According to Gogoi, a masked intruder attempted to break into her room in the early hours of November 22nd. The actress, who was in Nagaon for the Raas festival, described the harrowing experience, stating, “I saw a man trying to open our door through the peephole. He had his face covered, and it was truly frightening.”
Despite repeated attempts to contact the hotel proprietor, Gogoi’s calls went unanswered. The hotel staff’s subsequent response, blaming the incident on a misunderstanding with guests from a Nepali community, further infuriated the actress.
Adding to the controversy, CCTV cameras were not operational on the floor where Gogoi was staying. This lack of surveillance has raised serious questions about the hotel’s commitment to guest safety. Gogoi has given the hotel management 48 hours to provide a satisfactory explanation.
The Raas committee, along with Gogoi, is demanding a thorough investigation into the matter. The actress has emphasized the need for stricter safety measures in hotels to prevent such incidents from recurring.
Hotel Sunjukti has not yet issued an official statement. However, the public outcry continues to grow, with citizens demanding accountability and justice.
