Assamese Astronomer Invited to Prestigious Lunar Science Conference in the USA
Guwahati, 3rd March: Krishangi Kashyap, an exceptional astronomy student from IIT Indore, has received a coveted invitation to participate in the 55th Lunar and Planetary Science Conference (LPSC 55) in Texas, USA, scheduled from March 11 to March 15. This distinguished opportunity, extended by NASA, acknowledges Kashyap’s pioneering research on the south pole of the moon.
Kashyap’s project, titled “Surface and Subsurface Regolith Characterization of The Lunar South Pole,” intricately examines the moon’s southern region utilizing data acquired from Chandrayaan-2 Dual Frequency Synthetic Aperture Radar. Her research promises to advance our comprehension of lunar surface dynamics.
Originating from Barpeta, a town in Assam, India, Krishangi Kashyap has instilled immense pride among local residents and her family. Despite her humble beginnings, she graduated with distinction in physics from Bhattadeva University in Pathshala. Since 2022, she has pursued a master’s degree in astronomy at IIT Indore, showcasing unwavering dedication to academic excellence.
