Assamese Film “Kooki” Set to Make Waves at Cannes Film Festival 2024
Guwahati, 11th May: Ahead of its official release, the critically acclaimed Hindi film “Kooki,” produced in Assam, is poised to make its mark at the Cannes Film Festival 2024.
Scheduled for screening on May 21 at 11:30 AM (local time) at Palais H, the film delves into a sensitive topic, narrating the journey of a rape victim. Directed by Pranab J Deka, “Kooki” portrays the various stages and mental trauma experienced by the victim.
The decision to showcase “Kooki” at Cannes reflects a bold move by the Assamese film industry to highlight its rich cultural tapestry and cinematic talent on a global stage. This endeavor, aimed at reaching a broader audience and gaining national recognition, signifies a significant milestone in the industry’s growth.
Driven by a desire to transcend geographical boundaries, the Assamese film industry embarked on this pioneering journey with its latest Hindi-language production.
