Assam’s Ananda Bhaduri Plays Key Role in India’s Record Performance at IMO 2024
Guwahati, 21st July: Ananda Bhaduri, a standout young mathematician from Assam, has been pivotal in India’s record-setting performance at the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2024, held in Bath, UK. The Indian team, which included Bhaduri, achieved its highest-ever ranking at the competition.
The Indian contingent secured four gold medals, one silver medal, and an honourable mention, with Bhaduri earning a gold medal. His achievement has brought significant pride to Assam.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to commend Bhaduri’s success. “Congratulations to Assam’s own Master Ananda Bhaduri for winning gold at the International Maths Olympiad,” Sarma tweeted. He praised Bhaduri’s accomplishment as a highlight of the Indian team’s outstanding performance.
Sarma also congratulated the entire team, noting their success would motivate countless students to engage with mathematics. “Their achievements will encourage many to overcome their apprehensions about Maths and pursue it with zeal,” he said.
The team’s impressive result not only showcases India’s growing mathematical talent but also shines a spotlight on emerging scholars from regions like Assam. Bhaduri’s success is anticipated to inspire aspiring students in mathematics and science across the country.
