Assam’s APDCL Shines in National DISCOM Rankings, Secures 2nd Position Nationwide
Guwahati: Assam has achieved a major milestone in the power sector as the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) secured the second spot in the latest national DISCOM rankings, a remarkable feat just behind Andhra Pradesh.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media platform X to celebrate the achievement, posting, “Assam powers up the charts! In the latest national DISCOM rankings, APDCL surges ahead. We will continue to work hard to build a world-class power distribution company that keeps consumers at the core.”
The annual rankings, released by the Ministry of Power, evaluated power distribution companies across India on critical parameters such as financial sustainability, performance excellence, and adaptability to the external environment. These rankings aim to spotlight DISCOMs that deliver reliable, efficient, and consumer-centric electricity services.
According to the report, APDCL earned the 10th spot in Consumer Service Rating (CSDR), ranked 8th in the 13th Integrated Ratings Report among state utilities, and came 4th in the State Utility Rankings. With these scores combined, its overall national ranking was pegged at an impressive second place.
This recognition not only highlights APDCL’s strides in reducing transmission losses and improving customer satisfaction, but also reinforces Assam’s growing commitment to modernizing its energy infrastructure.
The state’s improved position reflects its ongoing efforts to ensure financially sustainable operations, regulatory compliance, and a robust electricity supply for both urban and rural consumers.
