Guwahati, 22nd October: Assam’s rising talent, Bornil Aakash Changmai, has achieved a significant milestone by claiming the title of Under-15 Asian Junior Champion. This remarkable victory marks the first time an Indian player has secured the Under-15 title in a decade.
Bornil’s moment of glory came in the finals of the Badminton Asia U17 and U15 Junior Championships held in Chengdu, China. In a display of skill and determination, he emerged victorious by defeating China’s Fan Hong Xuan in straight games, with scores of 21-19 and 21-13.
This achievement is notable not only for Bornil but also for Indian badminton, as he becomes the first Indian player to claim the Under-15 title since 2013. His triumph places him in an exclusive club, making him the second Indian, following in the footsteps of Siril Verma, to clinch this prestigious title.
