Assam’s Bornil Aakash Secures Under-15 Asian Junior Badminton Title for India

Guwahati, 22nd October: Assam’s rising talent, Bornil Aakash Changmai, has achieved a significant milestone by claiming the title of Under-15 Asian Junior Champion. This remarkable victory marks the first time an Indian player has secured the Under-15 title in a decade.

Bornil’s moment of glory came in the finals of the Badminton Asia U17 and U15 Junior Championships held in Chengdu, China. In a display of skill and determination, he emerged victorious by defeating China’s Fan Hong Xuan in straight games, with scores of 21-19 and 21-13.

This achievement is notable not only for Bornil but also for Indian badminton, as he becomes the first Indian player to claim the Under-15 title since 2013. His triumph places him in an exclusive club, making him the second Indian, following in the footsteps of Siril Verma, to clinch this prestigious title. Bornil Aakash Changmai’s success serves as a testament to the promising future of Indian badminton on the international stage.
