Notably, the state has made significant strides in ensuring Clean Water and Sanitation, as outlined in SDG Goal 6.

- Tap Water Accessibility: The majority of villages in Assam now have access to tap water, reflecting the state’s commitment to providing clean water to its residents.
- Open Defecation Free (ODF) Status: All districts in Assam have achieved ODF status, marking a significant milestone in improving sanitation and hygiene across the state.
National Context:
India’s commitment to the SDGs focuses on addressing critical global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and environmental sustainability by the year 2030. The Indian government has integrated the SDGs into national policies and initiatives to ensure that these global targets are met effectively.
