Assam’s Gains from Interim Union Budget 2024 Praised by Himanta Biswa Sarma
Guwahati, 6th February: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has hailed the significant gains made by the state following the tabling of the Interim Union Budget by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 2.
Addressing the public via the social media platform X, CM Sarma emphasized the budget’s role in invigorating India’s federal structure.
“With its focused budgetary allocations and commitment to fiscal responsibility, this budget has injected vitality into our federal framework by bolstering devolution,” stated CM Sarma on X.
Highlighting the budget’s benefits, CM Sarma underscored two key points from the interim budget that have propelled Assam’s growth.
He noted that Assam’s allocation from Central Taxes in Budget 2023-24 amounted to Rs 34,548.57 crore. Additionally, CM Sarma pointed out that in the Union Budget 2024-25, the projected state share for Assam in central taxes has surged to Rs 38,154.81 crore.
