Assam’s Khel Maharan 2.0 Set to Launch Gaon Panchayat Level Sports Competitions Across Districts
Guwahati, Assam – The eagerly anticipated Gaon Panchayat level competitions under Khel Maharan 2.0 are set to commence from November 16 to November 21, 2024, across five Assam districts: Cachar, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Biswanath, and Nagaon.
This grassroots initiative, spearheaded by Assam’s Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, is designed to encourage athleticism and community engagement among the state’s youth, with a strong emphasis on sportsmanship and fair competition.
The Deputy Chief Electoral Officer of Assam has approved the event, noting that all activities must adhere strictly to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). In line with MCC guidelines, political figures will not be involved in the proceedings, ensuring that the competitions remain focused on youth development rather than political agendas.
This directive underscores a commitment to a fair, unbiased atmosphere, centered solely on athletic achievement and community spirit.
To boost excitement for the event, the Sports and Youth Welfare Department has been actively promoting the competition, urging local communities to “stay tuned for updates.” The hashtag #KhelMaharan2 has already gained momentum on social media, drawing widespread anticipation as athletes and teams prepare to showcase their skills.
Khel Maharan 2.0 seeks to elevate sports at the grassroots level, providing young athletes from each Gaon Panchayat the platform to demonstrate their talents. This aligns with Assam’s broader goals to foster healthier lifestyles and active community involvement among the younger generation. The department’s focus on physical activity, teamwork, and local pride reflects Assam’s vision of creating a vibrant, engaged youth culture across the state.
