Assam’s Lovlina Borgohain Clinches Gold at Women’s World Boxing Championships
Guwahati: Assam’s Lovlina Borgohain created history by taking home the gold title in the Women’s World Boxing Championships’ 75 kg final. She defeated two-time medalist at the Commonwealth Games, Caitlin Parker of Australia in a fiercely contested match.
Lovlina previously earned two bronze medals at the World Championships making this her third medal overall. She has once again proved herself and brought honour to her nation with her outstanding performance in the competition.
In the championship, Lovlina got off to a fast start by thrashing her Australian opponent in the opening round. But in the second round, Caitlin Parker fought back valiantly and triumphed by showcasing her dexterity and ability.
But Lovlina persisted and in the third round she made a powerful comeback. She won the match and the gold award with her brisk movements and accurate punches.
But Lovlina did not give up and came back strong in the third round. With her quick movements and precise punches she secured the victory and the gold medal.
The entire country is rejoicing over Lovlina’s outstanding accomplishment and social media is flooded with messages of support for the young boxer.
