Assam’s Nayeem Hussain Wins Gold in Under-14 Asian Tennis Tournament

Guwahati, 18th May: Assam’s emerging tennis star, Nayeem Hussain, clinched the gold medal in the prestigious Under-14 Asian Tennis Tournament 2024, held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The young athlete displayed exceptional skill and dedication, securing victory in the girls’ doubles category and marking a significant milestone in her burgeoning career.

The tournament, which ran from May 13 to May 17 at the Sheikh Jamal National Sports Complex, showcased emerging talents from across the continent. Nayeem’s stellar performance captivated spectators and earned her well-deserved recognition on the international stage.

The closing ceremony on Friday was attended by Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, the Minister of State for the Shipping Ministry, who honored the athletes with his presence as the chief guest. Nayeem Hussain’s remarkable achievement brought immense pride to her hometown and the nation.

A ninth-grade student at Maria’s Public School in Guwahati, Nayeem has been steadily climbing the ranks in the tennis world. Her recent triumph in Dhaka follows her commendable performance at the All India Championship Series Tennis Tournament in Guwahati from April 22 to April 26.
