Guwahati, September 4, 2024 — In a significant achievement for Assam, the state’s innovative mobile application ‘Shiksha Setu Axom’ has been awarded the prestigious gold category for excellence in e-governance by the Centre’s Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances. The award was presented during the National Conference on e-Governance 2024, held in Mumbai on September 3.
Assam Samagra Shiksha Mission Director Om Prakash and Executive Director Sanjoy Dutta accepted the award on behalf of the state government. The recognition underscores Assam’s growing prominence in leveraging technology to improve governance and public services.
Education Minister Ranoj Pegu lauded the accolade, attributing the success to the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Pegu expressed his pride, saying, “A step towards fulfilling HCM @himantabiswa’s dream to make Assam among the 5 best states of India. The ‘Shiksha Setu Axom’ app, which boasts 4.9 million users, has set a new benchmark in educational governance. The app’s advanced features, including real-time, geo-fenced attendance tracking for teachers, students, and non-teaching staff, have revolutionized the way educational data is managed and monitored in Assam.
The National Conference on e-Governance, organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, recognized excellence across various sectors, with nine gold, six silver, and one jury award presented in the e-governance category.
This award marks a significant milestone in Assam’s journey toward becoming a leading state in India, reflecting the state government’s commitment to modernizing its education system through technology-driven solutions.
