Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 98th Birthday Was Honoured With Tributes
Guwahati: The 98th birth anniversary of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee floral tributes were presented at the Sadaiv Atal in New Delhi on Sunday.
The “Sadaiv Atal” received floral tributes from President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Hardeep Singh Puri among a host of other dignitaries.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh on December 25, 1924. Vajpayee, whose father was a poet later turned to poetry himself. He also earned his master’s degree in political science from Kanpur.
On August 16, 2018, Vajpayee passed away. He was India’s prime minister from May 16, 1996, through June 1, 1996 and again from March 19, 1998, to May 22, 2004.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee received the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian honour in the nation in 1992. In 2015, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour by Pranab Mukherjee who was then the country’s president.
The Uttar Pradesh government will hold a number of events to commemorate the former prime minister’s birthday on Sunday.
