Authorities Implement Dry Days Ahead of Phase 2 Elections in Assam

Guwahati, 24th April: In anticipation of the Phase 2 elections in Assam, authorities have announced the enforcement of dry days in several key districts. The dry period will commence from 5 pm on April 24 and extend until the evening of April 26, affecting regions including Darrang-Udalguri, Diphu, Karimganj, Silchar, and Nagaon.

During these specified dry days, a comprehensive shutdown of establishments engaged in the sale or provision of alcoholic beverages is mandated. This includes wholesale warehouses, IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor) retail outlets classified as “OFF” and “ON” shops, Club “ON” premises, hotel establishments holding liquor permits, star hotels, and country spirit shops.
