Authorities Seize Rs 1 Lakh Worth of Arunachal Liquor in Sonitpur Raid
Northeast Desk, 16th September: In a joint operation, the Rangapara Excise department and Chardwara police successfully confiscated a large consignment of Arunachal liquor, valued at approximately Rs 1 lakh, at the 12-mile mark in Sonitpur. The raid targeted a residence located along the Assam-Arunachal border.
The enforcement teams acted on a tip-off and intercepted the contraband, which was found stored inside a vehicle bearing the registration number AR-04-3126. The illicit liquor was hidden within the premises of a house in the 12-mile area, a location notorious for its proximity to the inter-state boundary.
Officials from the excise department confirmed that the operation was aided by a confidential source associated with the Pomkhedi excise. Authorities are now conducting further investigations to trace the origins of the liquor and apprehend those involved in its illegal transportation and storage.
