Authorities Warn Public Against Fake Facebook Profile Impersonating Sikkim CM
Gangtok: The Sikkim government has issued a public warning after a fraudulent Facebook profile impersonating Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang surfaced online. Officials have clarified that the fake account has no connection with the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) or any official government entity, raising serious concerns about potential misinformation and fraudulent activities.
Authorities have strongly advised citizens to avoid engaging with the unauthorized profile, cautioning that any messages, posts, or friend requests originating from it should be considered deceptive. In response, the public has been urged to report the fake account to Facebook to facilitate its swift removal.
In an official statement, government representatives emphasized the importance of relying only on verified communication channels for authentic updates regarding the Chief Minister. They also stressed the need for vigilance against misinformation, urging residents to exercise caution while consuming news from unofficial sources.
