Award-Winning Director Tushar Tyagi’s “Saving Chintu” to Premiere on Open Theatre on September 27

Guwahati, 24th September: Tushar Tyagi’s latest short film, Saving Chintu, is set to debut on Open Theatre on September 27, bringing a powerful narrative about an American-Indian gay couple’s journey to adopt an HIV-positive child from India. Starring Adil Hussain of Star Trek: Discovery, the film has already garnered attention for Oscar consideration.

Tyagi, known for his acclaimed short films Gulabee and Love+, shifts the focus in Saving Chintu from sexuality to the broader challenges of adoption and family-building. “It’s about their journey as a couple, not their sexuality,” Tyagi emphasized, pushing against common queer film tropes.

Adil Hussain, also a producer on the film, was drawn to the story after reading the script while filming for Marvel Studios in 2019. The cast includes notable names like Sachin Bhatt, Edward Sonnenblick, and Dipannita Sharma.

The film’s Oscars campaign even caught the attention of Priyanka Chopra, who praised the story on social media. As it prepares for its premiere, Saving Chintu promises to deliver a moving and thought-provoking narrative that transcends societal norms.
