Awareness to prevent Hepatitis
Guwahati: On the Occasion of World Hepatitis Day awareness camp was organized by the Health Workers Team of the South Salmara district.
The teams organized the awareness camp to spread out awareness regarding the Hepatitis Virus. Taking to Twitter the National Health Ministry (NHM) stated that the camp was observed to prevent Hepatitis and in order to create awareness among the people to take the precautionary measures to prevent the Hepatitis B Virus.
It is celebrated on 28 July which is the birth anniversary of Noble Prize-winning scientist Dr Baruch Blumberg to honor him as he had discovered the Hepatitis B Virus (HBV).
He had also developed the diagnostic test along with the vaccine to treat this.
Hepatitis has several variants namely A, B, C, D, and E. It is commonly caused by a viral infection, the risk factors such as excessive consumption of alcohol, toxins, and also some medications.
This disease is identified as very as a major health concern for India, As per WHO in 2020. According to a journal of medical research in India about 2, about 50,000 people die of this viral infection every year.
