Ayesha Hazarika Makes History as First British-Indian Person of Assamese Descent Appointed to House of Lords

Guwahati, 11th May: In a historic moment, Ayesha Hazarika has etched her name in the annals of British parliamentary history as the first British-Indian person of Assamese descent to ascend to the esteemed House of Lords. The upper chamber of the British Parliament welcomed Hazarika, a Scottish political aide and pundit, into its ranks, bestowing upon her the title of Baroness Hazarika of Coatbridge.
