Babul Supriyo Appointed as TMC National Spokesperson

Guwahati: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Babul Supriyo has been appointed to serve as the party’s national spokesperson.

Supriyo, took to Twitter to thank West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee for giving him the new responsibility.

He wrote, “My sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Didi @MamataOfficial & @abhishekaitc for appointing/including me in the illustrious Team of National Spokespersons of @AITCofficial. Shall do my very best to live up to the responsibility entrusted upon me.”

According to reports, Supriyo’s selection as the country’s spokesperson was a component of the party’s plan to broaden its support outside of Bengal.

Supriyo, a former BJP member of parliament (MP) joined the TMC after being expelled from the federal ministry last year. He renounced the Lok Sabha seat in Asansol that he had previously won on BJP nominations. The singer-turned-politician was then put forward by the ruling TMC for election to the Ballygunge assembly in April of this year, and he was successful in winning the seat with ease.
