BAI President Congratulates Chirag Shetty and Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy

Guwahati, 7th October: Indian badminton achieved a historic milestone at the Asian Games as the dynamic duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty secured the gold medal. They clinched this monumental victory by defeating South Korea’s Choi Solgyu-Kim Wonho with a remarkable score of 21-18, 21-16.

This victory goes beyond the badminton court, evoking immense pride and admiration from various quarters. President of the Badminton Association of India (BAI) and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma personally congratulated the triumphant pair in a telephonic conversation on October 7.

The road to this historic gold medal was filled with remarkable moments. In a gripping opening game lasting 29 minutes, Rankireddy and Shetty executed multiple comebacks to secure a 21-18 victory. The second game showcased their exceptional skills and strategy, resulting in a match-sealing win after 57 intense minutes of play. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the history of Indian badminton.
