Bailey Bridge Inaugurated in North Sikkim’s Sangklang, Built in Record Six Days

Sikkim: A newly constructed bailey bridge in North Sikkim’s Sangklang area was inaugurated on January 2, marking a significant milestone in improving connectivity within the region. Built by Trishakti Sappers in collaboration with the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the 180-foot-long bridge has a load capacity of 24 tonnes and is located in the scenic Mangan district.

The bridge was completed in a record time of six days, with construction commencing on December 25. It was opened to the public on January 2, providing a crucial link for vehicles and facilitating the transportation of goods, officials said.

The bridge is a temporary structure designed to remain operational until the summer months. It will be dismantled before the monsoon season to avoid collapse due to rising water levels.

Officials highlighted the positive impact of the bridge on the region, stating, “The bridge is expected to ease the movement of vehicular traffic, enhance access to markets and essential services, and improve the transportation of goods.”

The swift completion of the project showcases the efficiency and dedication of the teams involved, addressing the pressing need for reliable infrastructure in the challenging terrains of North Sikkim.
