Balika Shivir 2024 Kicks Off in Arunachal Pradesh to Empower Young Girls

Itanagar: The much-anticipated Balika Shivir 2024, a convention dedicated to empowering young girls, officially commenced on Tuesday at Donyi Polo Vidya Niketan in Talom Rukbo Nagar, East Siang district.

Organized by the Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti (ASVS), which oversees 14 schools and nine residential Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) across 11 districts, this five-day event aims to inspire participants in leadership development, education, and self-reliance.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by notable guests, including Smti Dasanglu Pul, Minister for Women and Child Development, who served as the Chief Guest, alongside Basar MLA Nyabi Jini Dirchi, who acted as the Guest of Honour.

Dignitaries such as Ninong Ering, MLA of Pasighat, district officials, and community leaders also attended, highlighting the event’s significance.

In her address, Minister Pul encouraged the girls to embrace their roles in nation-building with courage and resilience.

“Education is pivotal in shaping the future of Arunachal,” she stated, urging participants to recognize themselves as torchbearers of change within their communities.

MLA Dirchi emphasized the transformative power of education for young girls in Arunachal Pradesh, underscoring the importance of seizing every opportunity to achieve their dreams.

She praised ASVS for its unwavering commitment to promoting girls’ education in the state, reinforcing the need for educational initiatives tailored to their unique challenges.

Sunita Pandey, All India Saha Balika Shiksha Pramukh of Vidya Bharati, echoed the mission of creating a supportive environment where girls can thrive and reach their full potential.

Smti Oder Gao, Chairman of Balika Shivir 2024, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating it provides a unique platform for girls to hone their leadership skills.

The Shivir has drawn 700 participants from classes 6 to 10, carefully selected from ASVS-run Vidya Niketans, KGBVs, and EMRS throughout Arunachal Pradesh.

Beyond leadership development, the Shivir will emphasize skill-building in arts, sports, and vocational training, preparing participants for future leadership roles within their communities and the nation.

As the event unfolds, it promises to inspire and empower a new generation of young women in Arunachal Pradesh, fostering a brighter future for the state and its people.
