Bangladesh PM sends mango gift to Assam CM

Guwahati: Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has gifted Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma some of her nation’s renowned “Amrapali” mangoes, officials said on Saturday.

The Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner in Guwahati, Shah Md Tanvir Monsur handed over the gift to the Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Samir Sinha on Friday night.

The Bangladesh premier has sent 200 kg of mangoes to the region as a gift for important figures in the state of Assam

According to Monsur, Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi, the two prime ministers, have charismatic leadership and the two nations currently have the “best of relationships.”

The assam Chief minister has also contributed significantly to this effort.

He claimed that the prime minister wants to share these mangoes which are of the highest quality with the neighbouring nations.

‘She has, therefore, sent the finest quality of mangoes for the dignitaries of Assam. This gift from Bangladesh will make the sweet relationship between the countries sweeter’, Monsur added.

Sinha in accepting the gift expressed his appreciation to Sheikh Hasina on behalf of the assam Chief minister and people.

Hasina delivered mango hampers earlier in the month to people including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind.

Bangladesh has been using what experts on international relations have dubbed “Mango-Hilsa diplomacy”—wooing neighbours with gifts that help promote Bangladesh.
