Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina expresses gratitude to India
Guwahati: In the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed gratitude to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for rescuing 9 Bangladeshi people from Ukraine as part of ‘Operation Ganga.’
According to national media reports, the expedition also rescued some Nepalese and Tunisian students. On the 8th of March, Major General (Retd.) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, Bangladesh’s Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi.
Prime Minister Modi recalled his March 2021 visit to Bangladesh with fondness. He expressed his best wishes to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Major General (Retd) Siddique praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for strengthening India-Bangladesh ties and standing by Bangladesh during crisis situations like as the COVID-19 outbreak.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership in ensuring Bangladesh’s overall growth was lauded by the Prime Minister, who promised to work with her to strengthen India-Bangladesh connections.
Operation Ganga is nearing completion, with the last few batches of Indian nationals stranded in Ukrainian towns like Sumy returning home.
As a result of special flights organised as part of Operation Ganga, which began on February 22, 2022, around 18 thousand Indians have been evacuated from war-torn Ukraine. On Tuesday, two special civilian aircraft flew 410 Indians from Ukraine’s surrounding countries to India.
