Bangladesh PM to Visit India from Sept 5-8

Guwahati: The Ministry of External Affairs announced that the prime minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, will visit India from September 5 to September 8.

The prime minister of Bangladesh will meet vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar and president Draupadi Murmu while she is in India. Additionally, she will meet privately with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

PM Hasina will meet with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar while she is in New Delhi. Hasina would probably go to Ajmer Sharif as well. She last went to India in October of this year.

According to ANI, Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Hasina’s travel to India “will deepen the multifaceted relations between the two nations, which are built on historical and cultural links, mutual trust and understanding.”

The Daily Star claimed that Bangladeshi Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen had previously stated that PM Hasina could travel to New Delhi in the first week of September.

Momen reported that talks between the two nations are taking on to decide on a time for Sheikh Hasina to visit New Delhi in the first part of September.

He added that the Bangladeshi side has indicated that a date during the first 10 days of September or the first week of September would be practical.

However, at the time, the Bangladeshi Foreign Minister stated that the date will soon be decided through negotiations to allow for the visit to happen before the UN General Assembly began (UNGA).

This year’s UNGA’s 77th session will begin on September 13. Bangladesh and India decided to implement the bilateral decisions ahead of Hasina’s India visit.
