Bangladeshi Child Accidentally Entered India Reunited with Family After 3 Years, Legal Aid Authorities Facilitate Return
Guwahati, 27th April: After a three-year separation, a Bangladeshi child who accidentally entered India in 2021 has been successfully reunited with their family in Jamalpur District, Bangladesh. The District Legal Service Authority of South Salmara Mankachar (DLSA SSM) played a pivotal role in providing legal assistance and ensuring the safe repatriation of the child.
The journey began in 2021 when the child inadvertently crossed the Indo-Bangla border in Mankachar, Assam, leading to their rescue by the Mankachar police. A case was initiated, and the child was placed under the care of Assam’s Boko Child Protection Cell.
Throughout the process, the DLSA SSM provided unwavering legal support, striving for the safe reunion of the child with their family. On April 26, a collaborative effort involving Legal Aid Defence Counsel, SSM, Assam police (Border Police South Salmara Mankachar), and Meghalaya police ICP Dalu, West Garo Hills, facilitated the handover of the child to the Border Guard Police of Bangladesh.
This reunion marks a significant milestone, made possible by the collective efforts of various authorities and agencies. The DLSA SSM expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation extended by His Excellency High Commissioner Bangladesh and officials of the Bangladesh Border Guard Police.
The family members expressed immense relief and appreciation to the officials of the legal services authority, police personnel, and Border Security Force for their tireless efforts in facilitating the safe return of their child.
