Bangladeshi National Apprehended in Assam, Seven Others in Meghalaya
Guwahati: Assam Police on Monday apprehended a Bangladeshi national, Asma Akther, who had illegally crossed the India-Bangladesh border. The individual was detained near the border and subsequently deported back to Bangladesh.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to announce the successful operation, highlighting the state government’s commitment to border security.
In another incident, the Border Security Force (BSF) foiled an infiltration attempt by seven Bangladeshi nationals near Rattachera in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills district. The apprehended individuals, including a 55-year-old man and his 20-year-old daughter, were allegedly lured by promises of free medical treatment in Kolkata and charged a significant fee by Bangladeshi touts.
These incidents underscore the persistent threat of illegal immigration along the India-Bangladesh border and the diligent efforts of security forces to maintain vigilance and deter such activities.
