Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested at Teliamura in Tripura

Guwahati, 2 May: As many as seven Bangladeshi nationals including three minor children were arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) on Tuesday at Teliamura Railway Station in the Khowai district.

According to reports, the Bangladeshi national entered Tripura from Sonamura in the Sepahijala district in order to travel to Bangalore in search of employment.

“Based on a tip we have detained seven Bangladeshi nationals from the Teliamura Railway station in Khowai district. During preliminary interrogation, they revealed that they entered Tripura through Sonamura bordering village in Sepahijala district. They were en route to Bangalore in search of work”, the official said.

According to him, six of the seven individuals are from the same family and originated from Balipara under Pirozpur in the Barishal district while the seventh individual is from Narayanganja in Dhaka.

The arrestees have been identified as Amir Dakhter (43), Mariyam Akhter (35), Tarikul (9), Marjan (5), Marjina (a seven-month-old baby), Md Taksin (18) and Litan Islam (24).

Additionally, Bangladeshi nationals are currently being detained by the Police, BSF and GRP at railway stations as they utilise Tripura as a passageway to leave Bangladesh and enter India in pursuit of employment in Bangalore and Hyderabad or in other states in India.
