Bank Manager Arrested in Guwahati Land Scam Case

Guwahati, 27th July: A bank manager from Guwahati has been detained by the police in connection with a land scam involving the illegal acquisition of property from an elderly woman.

Prasenjit Roy, the manager at UCO Bank’s Silpukhuri branch, was arrested late Friday night by the crime branch. Roy is accused of unlawfully seizing land owned by Prabha Bhattacharya in the Japorigog area of Guwahati.

Bhattacharya had used her land documents as collateral for a bank loan. Roy allegedly misappropriated these documents, fraudulently transferring the property into his own name. Following Bhattacharya’s complaint, the police took swift action, leading to Roy’s arrest.

The crime branch is investigating the case further and believes that other individuals may be involved in the scam. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details are expected to emerge.
