Basistha Temple Authorities Burn Drugs Recovered During Shraavan in Guwahati
Guwahati: Massive quantities of narcotic substances were burned by Basistha Temple authorities in Guwahati on Sunday.
These drugs were found at the Basistha Temple’s “Bol Bam Yatra.”
During the auspicious “Shraavan” month, the Basistha Temple Management Committee and Basistha Greater Youth Unity removed drugs weighing more than 50 kg from the temple grounds.
They claimed that on the five Mondays of each month, Lord Shiva’s followers who visited the temple brought narcotics and other illegal substances onto the grounds.
Reportedly, large amounts of marijuana, chillums, hookahs, and foreign booze have been found during the month.
According to the authorities, these drugs were recovered from a group of obnoxious devotees who solely entered the temple to get drunk and cause trouble for other people.
Meantime, all the illegal and illegally obtained drugs were today burned by the temple authorities.
They added that a total of 2,018 people had their possession of the drugs seized.
