Batadrava PS Arson Case: Charge Sheet To Be Filed In 15 Days

Guwahati: The deputy inspector general (DIG) of the Assam police, Satya Raj Hazarika said that the investigation into the burning of the Batadrava police station will take 15 days.

This was announced at a press conference held today at the Nagaon police reserve. DIG Hazarika said that the investigating officials would file the charge sheet after receiving three reports.

The senior police official mentioned that at least 25 people have been designated as suspects in the case involving the arson of the Batadrava police station in Nagaon.

According to DIG Hazarika, 12 of them have been detained thus far, and one of them has died.

The Assam police DIG further said that the Batadrava police station will soon be raised to inspector-level status.

Additionally, he added, a firefighting wing has been established in Batadrava.

It should be mentioned that on May 21, following the death of a villager in police custody, an enraged mob attacked two on-duty police officers and set fire to the police station.

People began to question the police’s involvement in the death of one individual in custody, which caused a huge uproar. Along with the violence, there were reported injuries on both sides.
