BCCI Secretary Jay Shah to Head ICC’s Finance & Commercial Affairs Committee

Guwahati: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)Secretary Jay Shah will soon have another accomplishment to his resume when he becomes leadership of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) significant Finance and Commercial Affairs committee.

The Finance & Commercial Affairs committee of the organisation that governs international cricket selects the budgetary allotments for ICC events and is responsible for allocating funds from the overall income pool to the member nations.

The BCCI team, led by Jay Shah and IPL chairman Arun Dhumal, arrived in Australia more than a week before this weekend’s ICC Board meetings in Melbourne.

Shah replaced former India captain Sourav Ganguly on the ICC Board as the BCCI representative (BCCI president from 2019 to October).

Dhumal will be a part of the committee for chief executives. More crucially, according to ESPNcricinfo, Shah will also be a member of the F&CA and is prepared to succeed Ross McCollum, the previous chair of Cricket Ireland, who will be stepping down soon, as the committee’s chair at its upcoming meeting in March 2023.

Greg Barclay was overwhelmingly elected by the ICC board to serve a second two-year term as the Independent Chair of the International Cricket Council (ICC) as stated by the international cricket governing body on Saturday.

Barclay was unopposed following the withdrawal of Tavengwa Mukuhlani from the process, and the Board reaffirmed its full support of him to continue as Chair for a further two years.

Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly was replaced as the 36th President of the Indian cricket body by Roger Binny after the 91st Annual General Meeting of the BCCI.

Notably, Binny was the lone contender to submit a nomination for the top position, ending Sourav Ganguly’s three-year tenure as BCCI President.

The BCCI Secretary was still Jay Shah. The BCCI Treasurer has been named as Ashish Shelar. Devajit Saikia was selected as the joint secretary, and Rajeev Shukla was elected vice president. The IPL Chairman has been named as Arun Dhumal.
