Mumbai is reeling from the sudden and tragic demise of actor and dancer Shefali Jariwala, who shot to prominence with the iconic 2002 hit “Kaanta Laga.” Jariwala, aged 42, passed away late Friday night. While initial indications point towards a suspected cardiac arrest as the cause, a thorough investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances surrounding her untimely death.
Official sources reveal that Jariwala collapsed at her Andheri residence. Her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, swiftly transported her to a nearby hospital. However, despite immediate medical efforts, she was declared deceased upon arrival. Her body was then moved to Cooper Hospital around 12:30 AM for a postmortem examination to determine the definitive cause of death.
The Assistant Medical Officer (AMO) at Cooper Hospital, in a statement to the media, confirmed that the body had been transferred from another medical facility and that the exact cause of death would only be established following the completion of the autopsy.
In a development highlighting the seriousness with which authorities are treating the case, Mumbai Police personnel arrived at Jariwala’s residence during the night. They were accompanied by a forensic team, which undertook a detailed examination of the premises. While no conclusive evidence suggesting foul play has been officially released, the presence of investigative teams underscores a cautious approach to the inquiry.
Shefali Jariwala’s career was defined by her breakthrough performance in “Kaanta Laga,” a music video that became a cultural sensation in the early 2000s, cementing her status as a household name.
