Bengaluru: Explosion at popular Rameshwaram Cafe, 4 injured

National Desk, 1st March: An explosion rocked the popular Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru’s Brookefield area, injuring at least four people. Among the injured were three staff members and one customer, all of whom suffered minor injuries and were reported to be out of danger, according to officials.

Initial reports indicated that the explosion occurred around 1 pm when an object placed in a bag detonated, emitting black smoke in and around the cafe. Police authorities confirmed that forensic teams were on-site, gathering evidence, and the exact cause of the blast would be determined following thorough tests.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara stated that preliminary assessments ruled out the involvement of a cylinder in the explosion. He added that further investigations would be conducted by forensic experts once samples from the blast site were collected and analyzed.

The injured individuals, described as non-critical, were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, as confirmed by the Home Minister.

Footage from the scene depicted a significant presence of police and fire officials, alongside concerned citizens, while forensic teams worked diligently to ascertain the nature of the explosion. Additionally, a bomb disposal squad was deployed to ensure the safety of the area.

Meanwhile, authorities are meticulously reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to piece together events leading up to the blast as part of their ongoing investigation. The area surrounding the cafe has been cordoned off to facilitate a thorough examination and ensure public safety while authorities probe the incident further.
