Bengaluru Poilce Arrest Food Delivery Agent From Assam On Terror Charges

Guwahati: In a matter of concern, Karnataka’s Central Crime Branch police has arrested a food delivery agent hailing from Assam on suspicion of radicalizing youths.

The accused has been arrested Akthar Hussain.

According to reports, Hussain was apprehended in Bengaluru’s Tilaknagar area where he had been living with three friends since February 2020.

“We brought the suspect into court and placed him under a 10-day police hold while we questioned him further. He shared a home with three other individuals. They were likewise questioned but released because they had no connections. However, we have requested that they show up whenever necessary,” a police officer said.

A local claimed that because Hussain worked primarily at night, he had never met him.

“He used to appear to us at night. Around five police officers arrived on Sunday around 5 o’clock, and by 8 o’clock, roughly thirty more did, picking him up,” he said.

Hussain had radicalised youths, however, further information would be available only after further interrogation, police informed, adding that a raid was also conducted on another suspect in Tamil Nadu, who allegedly had links with Hussain.

According to city police commissioner C H Pratap Reddy, “We had input from agencies and based on those, a raid was conducted and the offender was taken into prison.”

It is learned that the state’s intelligence wing and internal security division worked together to coordinate the raid in Bengaluru.

An investigation is underway to determine whether he has connections to any terrorist groups.
