Berlin to send anti-tank weapons and Stinger missiles to Ukraine
Guwahati: Foreign Minister of German Annalena Baerbock stated that the country will send anti-tank weapons and Stinger missiles to Ukraine in response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war of aggression.
“After #Putin’s war of aggression, we now live in a different world. We are outraged, but not paralysed, by this violation of international law. As a result, we will deliver anti-tank weapons and Stinger missiles to Ukrainian forces defending their homeland “Baerbock stated.
In the aftermath of the ongoing violence in Kyiv, Germany announced that it will give Ukraine 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 anti-aircraft Stinger missiles.
“The German government made this decision on Saturday, and weaponry from the German army’s stockpiles will be supplied to Ukraine as soon as feasible,” government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said in a statement, according to Anadolu Agency.
According to Anadolu Agency, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Russia’s military assault on Ukraine has been “a turning moment” for Europe, jeopardising the post-World War II international order.
“It is our responsibility in this crisis to do all possible to assist Ukraine in defending itself against Vladimir Putin’s invading force. Germany is standing by Ukraine’s side “Scholz remarked.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised Scholz on Twitter after receiving arms supplies from Germany: “Keep up the good work, Chancellor @OlafScholz! The anti-war coalition is in full swing!”
