Bhaichung Bhutia Elected New Prez of HSP
Guwahati: The legendary football player Bhaichung Bhutia elected as the new president of the Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP).
The 45-year-old former India captain was elected unanimously by party leaders and members at a national conference, HSP general secretary Biraj Adhikari said.
If Bhutia is ever elected to office, “the HSP is confident that Bhutia will bear the mantle of leading the fight to free Sikkim of the corrupt misrule that exists right now and offer a transparent and responsive administration to the people,” he said.
Bhutia promised to work hard for the Sikkim people and stand in for their ambitions. He declared, “We shall make unending efforts to ensure social equality and justice and provide limitless possibilities for every Sikkimese to realise the full potential of our state.
Bhutia congratulated outgoing HSP president Bina Basnett on finishing her three-year term in office.
