The Bharat Bandh called by farmers in protest against the farm laws is observed on December 8. The Bandh has been called from 11 am till 3 pm on Tuesday, a Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union said on Monday. “We don’t want to cause problems for the common man. Therefore, we will begin at 11 am, so that they can leave for office on time,” he stated.
However, in Assam, the Bandh is seen from 5 AM to 5 PM. This has been called by Several Organisations along with All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS). AIKS Assam Unit General Secretary Tiken Das who confirmed the call for the Bandh in the State. “There will be a Total Blanket ban from 5 AM to 5 PM,” said Das.
As revealed by the Asociation, there are a few exemptions to the Bandh. Only students who have Exams, Medical Emergencies, drinking Water and Milk services will be exempted. There is a demand for complete closure of Offices, Shops and Public Transportation Services.All Assam Motor Transport Association (AAMTA), has neither denied nor supported the strike.
