Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra Commences in Manipur with Congress Leaders Flagging Off Event
Northeast Desk, 14th January: A widely discussed initiative today marked the commencement of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra at Thoubal in Manipur. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi officially flagged off the Yatra during an event at Khongjom in Thoubal.
The event, attended by various national and regional Congress leaders, saw Rahul Gandhi inaugurating the Yatra while addressing concerns over the prevailing scenario in the state. Gandhi expressed his observations during his recent visit to Manipur amidst the troubled circumstances.
In his address, Rahul Gandhi highlighted the challenging situation in Manipur, noting a collapse in the entire infrastructure of governance since June 29. He criticized the BJP government for the division and hatred prevailing in the state, stating that the absence of the Indian PM’s visit was shameful. Gandhi suggested a lack of regard for Manipur by PM Modi, BJP, and RSS.
Rahul Gandhi portrayed Manipur as a symbol of BJP’s hate politics, emphasizing that it has become reflective of the party’s ideology. He pledged that the Congress party would work towards restoring peace in the troubled state.
The day’s schedule includes a break at Koirengei Bazar in Imphal at 5:30 pm and an overnight stay at the Koujengleima Sports Association Football Ground in Imphal’s Sekmai.
The Congress has clarified that the purpose of the yatra is to end the “anyay kaal” (era of injustice) under the Narendra Modi-led government, leading up to the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Rahul Gandhi, spearheading the Yatra over 67 days, aims to engage with various societal groups, including farmers, laborers, Dalits, tribals, among others. The transformative yatra is set to cover 6,713 km in buses and on foot, traversing 100 Lok Sabha constituencies in 15 states and spanning 110 districts over 67 days. The march is anticipated to conclude in Mumbai on March 20 or 21.
