‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ Of Assam Cong Culminates at Sadiya
Guwahati: The Bharat Jodo Yatra of the Assam Congress came to an end in Sadiya after travelling 845 kms. The rally, which was a part of the nationwide campaign to revive the grand-old party, started from Golakganj, a town along the India-Bangladesh border in Dhubri on November 1 in the presence of senior party leaders.
In addition to the major Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, which spans 3,570 kilometres, the Congress has been organising a number of side marches in places where the main yatra won’t travel.
Congress national general secretary-cum-in charge of the state party unit, Jitendra Singh Alwar, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Kumar Borah and other senior Congress leaders including Gaurav Gogoi, Debabarta Saikia, Rakibul Hussain, Paban Singh Ghatowar were present at the closing ceremony of the Assam leg of the yatra in Sadiya.
Alwar thanked the state’s residents for their overwhelmingly positive support throughout the 45-day yatra and said the rally gave the party a chance to listen the voices of the populace, including farmers, workers, students, youth, and women, as well as understand their aspirations and difficulties.
