Bhoot Jolokia makes its way to London

Guwahati:  Consignment of “Bhoot Jolokia” for the first time was sent to the London from Nagaland.

 

On Wednesday almost 250 kilograms of ghost peppers or the Bhoot Jolokia from Nagaland was exported to London via LGBI Airport in Guwahati, Assam.

 

This is the first time ever that the pepper which is considered to be the hottest in the world made its way to the UK. The pepper has also been given a Geographical Indications (GI) tag.

This export has been considered to be a major thrust to businesses of the local food producers and farmers.

 

Earlier, three shipments of organic Assamese Lemon or Kaji Nemu were also exported to the United Kingdom.
