Bhupen Bora: Have Not Constructed Any Building in Guwahati
Guwahati: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah, responded to the the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) notice by claiming that he had not built any structures in the city.
Bhupen Borah responded to the charge that was brought against him by saying, “I do not have any objections with the complaint brought against me, but I want GMC to review all facts before issuing any notice.”
“I want to be clear that I don’t own a home or any property in Guwahati. My wife’s name is on the house where I live,” he stated.
Accusing Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, he said, “The chief minister has issued the notice without scanning any facts as at this moment he wants revenge. I will return back the land if it is proven that I have acquired even one inch of government land.”
He added that he would hold out until the accusations made against him were substantiated.
The GMC earlier on Wednesday sent a letter to the APCC requesting a copy of the No Objection Certificate (NOC) and authorised plan for his built structure at Niribili Path in Ghoramara Chariali.
The notice was issued in response to a complaint about the “unauthorised” construction of his building that was made by Bhaskarjyoti Kumar and Hiren Bhatta.
In view of this, GMC officials have also instructed the state Congress leader to give a response within three days.
