Guwahati: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Bhupen Borah said on Wednesday that the party is pleased to have an experienced individual elected as the next party president following Mallikarjun Kharge’s victory as the next president of the Congress.
Borah said, “Mallikarjun Kharge has done a lot of works for the party in the last five decades and also held many important positions. He will help to strengthen the party in the upcoming days”
Shashi Tharoor, who also submitted a nomination for the Congress Presidential Election, was thanked by the speaker.
He said, “As the party president has been elected, we will work together and a committee have been formed for Deori Autonomous Council Election under the leadership of Rana Goswami.”
Meanwhile, MP Gaurav Gogoi said that Congress has proved that how much the party is democratic.
“Everyone in Congress is close to the Gandhi family,” he declared.
It should be noted that senior Congressman Mallikarjun Kharge won the election and was chosen as the party’s president with an astounding 84% of the vote, whereas Shashi Tharoor received only 11%.
