Bhutan confers its highest civilian award to PM

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be awarded Bhutan’s highest civilian award, Ngadag Pel gi Khorlo.

A tweet from Bhutan’s Prime Minister said, “Overjoyed to hear His Majesty utter Your Excellency Modiji’s Narendra Modi name for the highest civilian honour, Ngadag Pel gi Khorlo.”

The PMO Bhutan said in a Facebook post, “HM emphasised Modiji’s unwavering friendship and support over the years, notably during the pandemic. Definitely deserving! Bhutanese folks send their best wishes. I saw Your Excellency as a great, spiritual human being in all of our contacts. I’m looking forward to receiving the award in person.”

The Breast Star and Sash Badge accompany the award, which was established in 2008. It pays tribute to individuals who have dedicated their life to serving Bhutan’s people and nation. Previous recipients include Her Majesty Queen Grandmother Ashi Kesang Choden, His Holiness Je Thrizur Tenzin Dendup, and His Holiness Je Khenpo Trulku Ngawang Jigme Choedra.
